Historic Experiences Guided Tours
Welcome to Historic Experiences, which offers bespoke historical guided tours in the historic English towns of Hastings and Battle.
We are proud to offer walks to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings (14th October) so contact us to book for availability for tours around this time. Our tours are personally tailored to suit your needs and you do not have to share the tour with other groups.
So, why Hastings and Battle?
Hastings is one of the most famous towns in England for an event that occurred in 1066, although the battle itself actually took place in what is now the small town of Battle. The Battle of Hastings is probably the first historic event that is learnt at school, and has been described as ‘the birth of modern England’. The echos of this famous battle still resonate throughout both towns and the surrounding areas to this day.
BUT, Hastings has many other claims to fame that you may not be aware of. These tours offer you the opportunity to walk through the medieval streets of the old town quarter, and to see the houses that were the site of some historic events. Indeed, Hastings has been home at some time or another to such people as the Duke of Wellington, Gabriel Rossetti Dante and John Logie Baird amongst others.
These tours are idea for couples visiting either Battle or Hastings for a short break and who want to find out about the towns, and how they have become what they are today.
If you have a particular interest, i.e. a certain era in history, or exploring churchyards, then we’ve can design your tour around that subject.
Historic Experiences has over 23 years of experience in creating and leading guided tours, with the most recent being the long running “Hastings Old Town Ghost Walk” which was created by Tina Brown in 1993.
Historic Experiences can also offer tours of Bexhill, Battle and Rye as well as talks on a range of historical subjects, and short courses.
We like to keep our tours individual and unique, and so we do not run walks which are open to the general public, but we pride ourselves on being able to offer a bespoke service to couples and small groups to make your experience even more memorable and enjoyable.
We are pleased with how the new venture has taken off with a number of successful tours already designed and undertaken for many visitors so far in 2016.
Please keep coming back to this site as we add to it over the coming months, and contact us about YOUR historic experience tour!
